As many of you know may or may not know, the men's baseball team I run in Kenosha, the Mohawks, will be playing a game in July at Miller Park, Home of the Milwaukee Brewers against our good friends, the Chicago Midwest Suburban League Cubs for the second and final time. Like last year, we are selling raffle tickets to help pay for the funds for this event as our main fundraiser. Tickets are currently being sold for $10 a piece and the drawing will be held the night of the game for a grand prize of $1000 cash.
Last year's game was a huge success in that we raised $17,400 in 2 1/2 months to have the honor of living our childhood dreams of someday playing one game in a Major League Baseball stadium. It was history as we became the first every men's Non-Brewer affiliated game ever to be played at Miller Park. Other games have only been played by high schools.
Though this particular game is not until July, we need to raise more than we did last year, which is why we starting the fund raising process now. Our goal for the 2009 game is to raise $20,000 as we anticipate this year being bigger and better than last year.
We had an awesome energetic and very loud crowd of 400 people in attendance in 2008. Anybody who knows MSBL baseball knows that 400 people is roughly 385 more people that what we normally get at our games, so it was fun for us players to experience playing in front of a big crowd as well. Those that attended can attest that this is true baseball as I believe it was a great time had by all. Concessions were open selling food and drinks, and some folks even got to see themselves on the big jumbo screen during several between inning events like the famous Kiss Cam. We hope eclipse the 400 mark this year as the weather should be a little warmer. If it rains, we will still play the game as they will close the retractable roof.
In addition to this fundraiser, I may also be running a March Madness NCAA pool as another fundraiser if you are interested. I'll have more information later on however.
If you are interested in purchasing ticket(s) for your chance to win $1000 cash, please email me back. More information regarding the game itself can be found on our website at the address under my name at the bottom of this email.
Please let me know if you have any questions regarding this or anything else regarding our league.
Thank you for your time and I look forward to hearing back from you.
Sincerely,
Scott Garland
